IBM
Sales Kick-Off
(SKO1) 2026
the challenge
IBM’s Sales Kick-Off (SKO) 2026 is a flagship global event designed to align, inspire, and enable sales teams across multiple regions.
The event spans four major geographies: Americas, EMEA, APAC, and Japan, combining high-impact in-person experiences with a second day of virtual, on-demand content. This hybrid format introduces a significant level of complexity, requiring seamless coordination across locations, formats, and technical environments.
The challenge was to design and execute a scalable production system capable of delivering a consistent, high-quality experience across both flagship events and smaller regional “Market Tent” sites.
Each location required reliable broadcast capabilities, synchronized content delivery, and technical precision; while adapting to different venue sizes, audience capacities, and local production constraints.
Additionally, the production needed to support tight timelines, multi-team coordination, and real-time readiness for executive presentations, ensuring that both live and pre-recorded content could be delivered without disruption across all regions.
the solution
Somnio partnered with IBM to design and implement a flexible, global production framework for SKO 2026, ensuring consistency, reliability, and scalability across all event formats and locations.
We structured the solution around two production models, Flagship sites and Market Tent sites; allowing the system to adapt to different levels of complexity while maintaining a unified experience.
For flagship locations, we designed a full-scale production setup to support larger audiences and high-visibility presentations. This included multi-camera configurations, enhanced audio systems, live captioning capabilities, and robust streaming infrastructure to ensure broadcast-quality delivery.
For Market Tent sites, we developed a streamlined production model focused on efficiency and reliability. These setups enabled regional teams to host localized Day 1 experiences with live playback and streaming, while leveraging IBM’s centralized virtual content for Day 2.
Across both formats, we defined:
A standardized equipment ecosystem to ensure consistency in video, audio, lighting, and streaming quality
A clear crew structure to support all technical and operational needs on-site
A detailed production timeline covering pre-event coordination, site surveys, technical testing, rehearsals, and live execution
Fail-safe systems including backup connectivity and redundancy measures to minimize risk
We also coordinated closely with IBM’s global and regional teams to ensure alignment across locations, managing logistics, technical requirements, and content delivery workflows.
the results
The SKO 2026 production framework enabled IBM to successfully deliver a cohesive global event experience across multiple regions and formats.
By establishing a scalable and standardized system, teams were able to execute both flagship and regional events with consistency and confidence, regardless of location.
The hybrid structure, combining live and pre-recorded content, allowed IBM to maximize reach while maintaining production quality and message alignment across all audiences.
With clear workflows, defined technical setups, and coordinated timelines, the event achieved:
Seamless execution across all geographies
Reliable, high-quality broadcast and playback experiences
Efficient collaboration between global and local teams
Reduced operational risk through standardized systems and backup solutions
The result is a repeatable production model that IBM can continue to scale and evolve for future global events, strengthening alignment and engagement across its worldwide sales organization.
